Children naturally watch movement, faces and patterns. Stories can refine that attention by asking what an animal might need and what evidence supports an interpretation. This encourages humility: we can care deeply while admitting that another creature experiences the world differently.
Observe without inventing too quickly

- Notice which features fit its habitat.
- Compare respectful distance with getting closer.
- Find one reliable fact after the story.
One question that matters
Is it wrong to give animals human personalities?
Not automatically. Anthropomorphism can support connection, but adults can gently distinguish imaginative character traits from real animal behavior.
